JANUARY 2012

Club Bailiff Freddie Horne landed one of the best pike reported from the Canal for some time when he slipped his net under this 15lb 6oz toothy critter.

The successful bait was a section of mackerel and the fish was caught in the basin where the roach have begun to shoal up.
NOVEMBER 2011

After losing a decent fish five minutes into an afternoon session Rother Bailiff Mike Kitchener thought he'd blown his chances of catching.

However within five minutes of moving to another swim Mike had this fine Rother Barbel of exactly 9lb, a result that meant Mike went home a very happy angler.
SEPTEMBER 2011

New member Mike Charge was doing a 24 hour night session at Hurston Lane Fishery with a mate when he hooked into this cracking Common on the Match Pond.

The 13lb 9oz beauty which smashed Mike's previous PB of 8lb 4oz was caught on the Mainline New Grange.

SEPTEMBER 2011

Veteran angler Ray Newnham regularly puts his vast experience of fishing the Rother to good use in his weekday sessions.

The 82 year old who still acts as a bailiff and ambassadeur for the Club is pictured with a nice Chub he recently caught at Shopham Bridge.

Ray has always loved the wildlife and tranquility of the Rother as much as the fishing itself.
AUGUST 2011

Dave Chambers has certainly got to grips with the Rother since joining last winter and is pictured here and below with his two latest Barbel.

This one weighed in at 11lb 10oz and both fish took Sturgeon Pellet, the same bait that accounted for Dave's recent fifteen pounder.

AUGUST 2011

Another superb double for Dave Chambers.

This one went 10lb 6oz and follows hot on the heels of his recent fifteen pounder.

AUGUST 2011

With Barbel to 14lb plus and Chub over 5lb from the Rother to his credit Bailiff Mike Kitchener thought he'd try his hand at fly fishing this season.
Mike is pictured here with his latest capture on the fly a Sea Trout of 5lb. Apart from Trout, Mike has already caught Grayling, Chub, Dace and even Perch on the fly.

Caught on a light weight rod and line Mike describes the fight as 'like hooking a train, the fight was up there with the best fish I have ever caught, it's amazing what is in our rivers and I hope to catch another soon'

AUGUST 2011

After enjoying some success at Hurston new member Matthew Ellis tackled the Carp in Stemps Pond. During one session in Peg 2 Matthew landed ten Carp to a new PB of 9lb 4oz and also lost six others.

However the Common Matthew is pictured with here came from a later session on Stemps and is yet another new PB of 9lb 6oz.

No wonder Matthew says he is enjoying fishing there!
JULY 2011

New member Matthew Ellis caught this stocky looking Common from Hurston Match Pond.

As you can see Matthew was very happy to get his fishing with his new Club off to such a good start. The Carp weighed 9lb 1oz and was a short lived PB for the species.
JULY 2011

Dave Chambers landed this fantastic 15lb 2oz River Rother Barbel at Coultershaw.

As with most of Dave's previous catches the specimen couldn't resist the sturgeon pellet hookbait used in conjunction with betain method mix and crayfish concentrate.
