MATCH REPORT by Match Secretary |

A very poor turnout meant that at least those that turned up had plenty to eat. Although the match was a walk off and we all felt that the match could be easily won from the match lake a combination of laziness and the heat saw us all on the tench pond.
Steve (chef) S fished about halfway along the river bank and started on the whip with maggot catching roach and rudd steadily with the odd bonus perch, tench and crucian in open water. A few looks close to the weed with a heavier set up on the pole failed to produce anything of note and his 6 – 7 – 8 was just enough to win the match.
Vince elected to go for the better fish close to the weed on a pole line from the off and had a good run of small tench with a couple of better ones. He then found that the swim dried up and reverted to the whip for the last 30 mins or so to pick up a few rudd. Perhaps if he had reverted to the whip 10 mins earlier he might have made first place as he ended up only 1 oz behind with 6 – 6 – 8 for 2nd place.
Keith went all out for the better fish close to the weed but lost quite a few to the weed. He weighed a mainly tench net of 3 – 15 – 0 for 3rd place.
