Hurston Lane Fishery
Author - Secretary

We have been made aware of rumours circulating with regard to KHV at Hurston Lane.

The Facts are....

A small number of fish had been spotted at Hurston with some form of Fungal growth.

We have reported this incident to the Environment Agency.

Representatives from the Environment Agency have been to Hurston and have examined the fish.

They have confirmed that the fish do have a low level fungal infection, which is quite common at this time of year and nothing to be concerned about. Because of the cold weather the fish have been largely inactive and some fungi can take this opportunity to build up on the surface of the fish. We have been informed once the fish become active as the weather warms they will literally swim the fungus off.

We would like to assure Members...

THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO EVIDENCE OF KHV AT HURSTON LANE

We will however, as usual, be monitoring the situation at all our fisheries and strongly advise Members to adhere to the advice we gave earlier regarding KHV. To refresh your memories please read that advice HERE before going fishing.
